Both these leagues are trying to compete to be "the best" league (at least for girls). Obviously, some folks are more invested in how that is playing out than others.

That is just not true. Loudon, VDA, McLean, and at younger ages Arlington has had top teams -- not bottom feeders. But even if they were bottom feeders -- they almost all get recruited in ECNL, even the bottom feeders.
