Subject: Which test/quiz should my kid re-take?
We have a class where they convert the lower points test to 100 points (percentage) and then enter in the grade book based on the 100 point value. This can really suck for low points tests.

No. I understand that this depends on if the teacher is just going to total the points or just total the scores from each assignment. And I understand that regardless, the lowest grade is always the drag. Thus if I had to retake something I’d try to make that C into a B or A.
At our school, they total the points for the category. Are there schools where they do anything different?

This also assumes the child knows the material for the 30 point test as well as the 20 point test.

Existing scores and # points the scores are worth:
1) 75% on a 10 point quiz
2) 80% on a 20 point test
3) 86% on a 30 point test
Assuming it's for the same class and all these points have equal worth:
The 30 point test or 20 point test are almost equal in terms of possible points earned back.
14% of 30 is 4.2
20% of 20 is 4
25% of 10 is 2.5

No. I understand that this depends on if the teacher is just going to total the points or just total the scores from each assignment. And I understand that regardless, the lowest grade is always the drag. Thus if I had to retake something I’d try to make that C into a B or A.

The 30 point test has 5 additional points up for grabs. The 20 point test has 4 points and the 10 point test has 2.5. So the best one to retake to maximize additional points would be the 30 point test.

Yes - they are "all task" - worth 90% of their grade vs "practice and preparation" which counts for 10%

It depends. Assuming 100 on all tests on the retake, then the 86 gives the most bang for the buck on the retake. Assuming a 90 on the retake, the 80 gives the biggest bump.
