Do not do it!!! Do you have an extra $3000 a month for diapers and childcare?

My kid is the light of my life, so generally I tell people to go for it if they want to be parents.

I think dialing in on saving as much as possible, getting support structure lined up either famior chosen family is essential. Newborns are so hard. You really need both emotional and hands on practical support. At your income, I would not expect to be able to hire sufficient help.

Do you have family close by to help you?

Daycare in the city $2k monthly
Diapers & wipes $100 monthly
Formula $150 monthly
increase to health care $70

If you’re willing to go the sperm donor route, just be ready for the additional costs it’ll bring you.
If you have family near by then start to come up with a plan for them to help out.

If they live further away, consider moving closer to them.

I don’t think you really need to “review how people raise kids in apartments.” That’s over complicating it a bit. Or rather, raising my daughter in an apartment is the least complicated thing that I do.

I think you need a support structure somehow. I had a coworker who had a sperm donor baby. Her elderly mom lived with her.

Don't plan on overspending on housing. Review how people raise kids in apartments, etc. Which is perfectly fine. You'll just need a lot of money to get through daycare years, money for orthodontia, have a rainy day savings fund, etc.

Use a sperm donor and do it on your own.
