Sometimes called low drop or zero drop shoes, or barefoot shoes. They have thinner, more flexible soles and wider toe boxes—they mimic a more natural foot shape and feel.

And certainly with pregnancy. I had to get rid of all my pre pregnancy shoes.

I’ve been wearing minimalist/zero drop shoes for about a year. Most of my regular sneakers and flats don’t fit anymore. My toes spread much wider now, which makes the toe box of most shoes feel really cramped. I can wear some boots and wedge heels for short periods of time.

It’s annoying at times when I don’t have a new shoe that will work with my outfit or the occasion, but it’s worth it to be pain free! I also have arches in my feet now, after 20 years of issues spawning from my flat feet and overpronation! It’s really been life-changing for me.

Your feet can widen with age and get bigger with age.

The lengthening is because your arches are flattening. Could impact width too as the foot is spreading.

Yes, I have found the same thing.

What is a minimalist shoe?

...for walking, running, day-to-day -- have your feet gotten wider?

Mine have widened significantly and it is so annoying. When I wear minimalist shoes (or even my Converse that I special order in 'wide'), my feet don't hurt at all even after 5+ miles. These days, when I wear my old running or workout shoes (Brooks with an insert or Nike Metcon) even for a dog walk or to the store, my feet absolutely throb.

Good part - the don't hurt.

Bad part -- they're growing wider and also seem to be longer -- e.g., they're now at the end of my Converse which fit wonderfully for a year!

Anyone else?
