We were just there...

1. aquarium
2. olympic park (5 minute walk from aquarium and nothing really other than some fountains and the Olympic ring sign)
3. botanical gardens
4. stone mountain (cable car down was not operating a few days ago)
5. cola factory (locals say it's not worth it but if you've ever been to club cool at Disney I believe they let you sample different sodas around the world like at Disney.)

I thought the city was nice and the skyscrapers all had impressive "toppers".

Do most people need hiking poles? Hiking shoes or will running shoes work ?
Trying to travel light.
If I can manage with just running shoes that would be great,

Running shoes are fine unless you really need ankle support. It's granite the entire route. There are handrails in the steepest portions.

Thank you all, I will check out MLK historical site, Stone Mountain and Coca Cola museum.
If time Ponce market also.
If I were bringing kids, I’d check out zoo and aquarium but not on my own.

Agree with this. I wish I had gone without my kids so I could have spent more uninterrupted time there. I also liked Ponce City Market and walking on the Belt Line.

The aquarium is awesome but not something I would prioritize if there by myself. If you like burgers and fries, The Varsity is a rite of passage but not fine dining by any stretch.

+1

Hike up, take the cable car down, then shuttle bus back to trailhead parking. Memorable experience.

The last US pandas are at the Atlanta Zoo. They are also slated to be shipped out next year I think.

Of the things people mentioned, World of Coca Cola is the one thing you truly can’t do anywhere else.

There's a bike path along the Chattahoochee river
Ponce City Market for food, shopping, maybe live music?

I'll be in Atlanta this week for a conference.
There may be some down time.
Any recommendations for sightseeing or dining?

I like outdoorsy activities but also art, music including jazz.

Thank you!
