They are sooo specific about shows. Even Jordans isn't enough of a category as there are different ones. I completely agree with a $$$$ gift certificate to a store.

Ask him. Mine likes cheap Adidas and doesn't care. Mine does to fit well in Nike or UA.

I would not spend money on expensive shoes without asking the kid. My nephew is very particular with his shoes and styles. I would never buy him a brand or style without him picking them out. My 16 yo son is also very particular but it’s all about comfort and fit. He wears what I think look like old man shoes because they feel good. They are also expensive and he buys them at a running store but are not fashion shoes.

Jordans, for sure. My kid just bought himself a pair of Air Force 1's because he didn't have enough for the Jordans of his dreams.

All the teens I know are wearing Jordans right now but I probably wouldn’t pick them out myself.

My 17 year old son most recently wanted Reeboks. They are ugly as can be and look a bit like orthotic shoes to me.

For what it's worth, he has strong preferences on footwear, is in the popular crowd and is active on social media so he's generally on the pulse of what is "cool."

Yes definitely gift card to a sneaker store. I wouldn't want to chose for my 16 year old, it could be a big waste of money if they don't like the ones you've chosen. Most teens love Nike.

Get him a gift card to Stock X so he can pick the ones out he wants. At least $150 for a special gift.
