I'm confused by what I violated and plan to contest it. The letter provides a video link but the citation number and pin don't work when I try accessing it.

I'm curious if anyone has contested and won a traffic violation, what the process is, and if it's worth my time/energy. I would hate to take a day off from work for this.

If you're positive that the video link doesn't work, request a trial in person.

In my case, the pics don't really prove my car didn't come to a complete stop. The first picture shows my car in the turn lane, behind the line, with the brake lights on. The second shot is 4 seconds later with the car nearly having completed the right turn. But in the video it is clear the car didn't come to a complete stop.

What a frustrating ticket! I wonder if they just started video ticketing for not fully stopping for a right turn at red light?

Interesting, I, too, just received a red light ticket for the same violation at the same intersection. I don't normally drive in that area, so not sure if this is new. Anybody regularly drive at that intersection and have a sense as to whether this is new?

I've been driving through that intersection (and turning right) weekly for over a year now. (And I'm one of the PPs who got ticket there recently.) I do think it is new.

There's a video link. The video shows the violation; the photos provide only the context.

You need to come to a full stop, before the white line. Thne proced with your right turn.

Most people don't stop before the white line because you can't see the traffic that way.

Sorry to say. Sometimes it’s easier just to pay the $75 bucks and move on with life.

You were probably slowing to a stop, but never came to a complete stop before turning. You should call about the video because that’s definitive.

Yeah I bet it’s for not stopping fully before you started to turn on red.

Which is dumb but that’s the rule.

Usually they have time stamps so you can see you only stopped for 1 second instead of 3

Oh and you need to contact the city to tell them the video link doesn't work

Are you over the stop line? The white line? That's a violation if you crossed the white line after the light turned red.

There should be a video too, showing whether you came to a complete stop.

You can contest in court but there should also be an email where you can send your question, and they can explain it to you better than I can. And/or help get it cancelled. But if they are anything like the county, the violation goes through at least four levels of review.

There's another car driving through the intersection, and I am stopped as it's passing me. The next image shows me turning.

I received a traffic control signal violation in the mail yesterday from the city of Rockville. It says I didn't stop at the red traffic signal, though the image clearly shows me stopped, and another image of me turning, but there is no sign saying "no turn on red." The ticket is for $75. I'm confused by what I violated and plan to contest it. The letter provides a video link but the citation number and pin don't work when I try accessing it.
