Ask them to start testing her for learning disabilities. The fact that her mom says she reads well and writes stories doesn’t have any weight. They need to pay for the testing not you. Especially if they said she had the lowest score.

So then why has she been getting pull outs for English and math this year then? If only the most recent test low

I wouldn't base any decisions on homework, for sure. My older kid always tested very high in everything and did fine in class, yet getting him to do homework was like pulling teeth until he finally matured around fourth grade and just did it. Lots of crying before then. And it wasn't like it took him long to do it, he just didn't want to.
If she is doing fine in class, I would go by that and her teacher's thoughts, not one score. MAP scores drop all the time - could have been a bad day, maybe she was sick, not paying attention, misread something. If she got the lowest score possible (versus lowest in the class, not sure from your wording) then that seems like an indicator that she didn't really do the test. But if the teacher says she is a sweet kid who listens well but has trouble learning, that would be a signal to look into it more.

I would ask to have a history of her scores.
Are they suggesting tested just based on this one test or are there other reasons?
I have prepared my kid on how to take the MAP test. It's not easy because it's on computer and you get paper and pencil (check that she got paper and a pencil).

Your school can provide a user name and password. Practice with your child how to solve on paper and then make sure the answer is correctly selected on the screen.
I also let me kid know the day before when he will have a MAP test and tell him to try hard on the test and take as much time as he needs. Last time he didn't finish in an hour and he was able to finish it a couple of days later.

Why isn't the school testing her? If they are that concerned, they should start the process. It sounds like she is doing well in other areas, I would drop the homework or really minimize it in that area to focus on math. And do easy computer programs like Happy Numbers to work on repetition of math programs.They need to give you the MAP scores so you can judge for yourself. What is her math performance like in the classroom?

Opt her out of MAP and SOLs until maybe middle school. Any other concerns will be evident from her regular classroom grades.

They are stopping this after complaints from parents. Husband wants to go ahead and test her. I feel like it’s too early. Should we wait until the next MAP test? Also, please tell me about this test. Is it like SOL at APS schools? I have to admit, I was much happier when my other kids was at APS. No daily cartoons there.
Move to a school district that doesn't hide kids scores from parents
