Why didn't you ask her to wash her hands?

I wouldn’t ask for a refund but I would tell the manager so they can address it with the therapist.

Last month I had a massage therapist tell me how hungover (I could smell stale alcohol on her) and then she proceeded to drop sweat on me throughout the massage. I was so grossed out and am not going back... but did not ask for a refund.

I only smelt it when in the room with her. I smelt it directly coming from her breath and when she had her hands around my shoulders or face.
Once I left smell was gone.

I have older kids and they’ve definitely had vomit breath after being sick.

My pregnancy nose is sensitive but it doesn’t lie to me. The woman smelled like vomit.

Smelled strongly of vomit.

The smell was overwhelming. A 90 minute prenatal massage I cut short because I couldn’t handle the smell anymore. It was beyond distracting and made me unable to relax or enjoy the experience.

It was immediately obvious in her breath and then I realized I could somewhat smell it near her hands too. Being pregnant and knowing the norovirus is going around I was very upset a potentially sick person was giving me a massage. However, she seemed fine the entire massage and oblivious to her smell. If she was suffering from food poisoning or a virus I’d 100% rather her cancel last minute.

I suspect maybe underlying health condition or maybe eating disorder (hence smell on hands). I don’t want to sound like I lack empathy because I recognize the struggle and have been there myself.

That being said, I can’t imagine anyone would be able to enjoy the massage with the lingering strong smell of vomit on the breath. She would belch quietly frequently and the stench would be so strong I’d have to try my hardest not to gag myself.

I paid $280 and ended up leaving more stressed than I arrived. I have a friend who is a masseuse and says they’ll decline clients with too strong of a body odor. This clinic asked all clients shower before a session so there is an expectation we smell pleasant enough. Shouldn’t the therapist we pay to see be up to a similar standard?
