Soccer is less expensive everywhere.

Do all countries on every continent have a common shared secret they're keeping from just us?

It’s no secret. Soccer is just more popular there. By a lot.

"there"?
Where is there? The Globe 🌎

What are all these millions of kids playing on Saturdays and Sundays in America?

Obviously an old article (10+ years) and dealing with girls only.

Doubt this assessment is applicable to today.

I'd imagine there's more pitches over there and more available space for people to just be able to play pickup games than what is available here.

It's less expensive not because of supply and demand, those clubs generate revenue and the big ones generate as much or more than some NFL teams. That's how things are paid for.

plus there is way more money available to soccer brands in europe. Imagine the Dallas Cowboys running something like this and how much money they would have

It's less expensive because everybody knows how to play soccer and you can walk across the street and find someone to coach you.

Here we have a supply and demand issue with coaches. Demand is high, supply is low, surprises are inflated

We have a friend who is from the UK and when he took the the family to visit his mum las summer for a few weeks he signed his kids up for a football camp. Camp was run by premier league players/coaches and cost something like £50 for two weeks.

Thanks for sharing! what is monkey juggle?

Sophie’s (not her real name) skill test scores:

Right Foot (“monkey juggle”): 32 (50 is the max score)

Left Foot (ditto): 11 (50 max)

Head Juggle: 9 (20 max)

Shooting(both feet): points awarded for power, technique and accuracy (up to 30 points)

Note: by age 15 anyone on the “A” team would score 130+ on the above test (out of 150 max)

I love that any kid can play at the younger ages and it only costs $200. Having seen the French women’s team play, this is working!
