Also insurance is reasonable for a young driver as the car has many safety features (at least the sport version).
How does it drive on the highway?
PP here who purchased if for her teens - it drives great on the highway. Pickup is appropriate for a Honda and merging into traffic is easy. The only complaint I have on the car is it does not have rear seat vents (only under the front seats). When I am the passenger and sitting in the back it can be a little chilly until the overall cabin warms up.
The insurance on a brand new 2024 HRV with the teens listed as primaries is actually cheaper than insurance is on our two 6+ year old European cars with husband and I being the primary. We had looked at buying a 2020ish CRV for them but those cars had 50k+ miles and were only 2-3k less than an HRV. Figured buying them a new car would minimize any mechanical issues or breakdowns and we most likely will not have to buy tires or brakes anytime soon.
