Depends...most doctors who take insurance ask you to make a follow-up appointment to discuss results of labs, studies, etc.
Those who do not usually call you back asap and make a plan. If it's very straightfoward, they use RN or portal messaging to communicate.

Oh I never thought about that. I left 2 messages and spoke to 2 nurses. Second one said doc asked me to take some supplement for one of the issues but she didn't know what to do about the other not in normal range issues. It just seems weird that they would not call back and let me know what I should do about the issues and I had to pester them after 3 weeks without knowing what to do.

My doctor’s office ( the nurse) called me when my iron and B12 was low. They sent a scripts for follow up bloodwork at the 3 and 6 month mark. Does your doctor call you back if you have concerns after any lab results that were not in normal range? I've left messages with the nurse twice and no call back in weeks from doc and I'm curious what other practices do. The nurse only called me for results of other tests not bloodwork and I had to ask her what to do about the blood test results and nurse was unable to address my concerns.
This was a new doctor.
With my kids pediatrician, he called me the day after he got the result and advised on what to do so I was just wondering why it is different with primary care docs.
