You’re looking at graduate schools. Also, some are weak relative to their overall rank.

Harvard has only had a serious engineering program for like two decades. When I went there, they only offered general engineering, which was basically a fluff degree. Now they have proper MechE and EE programs. It takes time to get something like that off the ground.

People stuck in the past still think of college as a finishing school where you study liberal arts, and philosophy and such.

We toured and BC was frank that they were building out their engineering program (this was 2023). Its first engineering offering was in 2021-2022 incoming class of roughly 25 students. They have one full professor and the chair. It’s not a strong program unless I am entirely missing something

The directives “Must go to Ivy League school” and “Must study engineering” are in conflict with each other. My upper class WASPy family were appalled when I chose to study engineering. Very déclassé.

Weak- Most Ivies, UChicago, Georgetown, Emory, Tufts, most if not all SLACS, even with their 3/2 programs

Strong- Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, Georgia Tech, NEU, Johns Hopkins, Rice, Duke, Washington

I have been surprised to learn that some schools I hear great things have virtually nonexistent or weak engineering programs- BC, Wash U, UNC. Trying to get a sense of other schools in the top 20-50 range.
