I got notifications when the prisoner was up for parole and was given the opportunity to file a statement. I got a notification when parole was denied and I did get a notification when they had served their sentence. I did *not* get a notification of deportation, and like others, I am not optimistic that he was actually deported (but this was about ten years ago, so it’s possible that it was actually done back then).

I honestly think they're not deporting them like they are telling us they are as my attacker had crimes against women here even before me, he was a repeat offender allowed to stay so more.

They are most definitely NOT deporting them.

If it was a federal crime, you can search the Inmate Finder on the Bureau of Prisons website. Available free to the public.

In my experience as a victim, no. And yes, he has gone on to do the same thing to other victims and is currently locked up.
You can look people up on VineLink, though I think that is only jails and not prisons? I'm not sure about that.

Brother was murdered 20 years ago. Perpetrator got life in prison with the possibility of parole. We get notified when he is up for parole and have the chance to submit victim statements.

You can sign up for alerts on vinelink if the person is moved or released. You won’t know about deportation. Neither will the prosecutor.

I would doublecheck, OP. You can look up their current whereabouts. DH’s sibling was not notified recently that the murderer of their sister had been moved to a less secure facility much closer to their family even though he was on the victim’s notification list.

Trust but verify! Check in that they plan to notify you!

My friend was kidnapped and raped as a teen and to this day (in our 40's) she gets updates when he's up for parole and a chance to write a victim statement.

I got held up working in an ice cream shop. The guy was sent to prison and I was informed when he got out.

About 10 years ago I was the victim of a crime. The perp was sentenced and as a non-citizen, is supposed to be deported after arriving his sentence (still has some time but it’s coming). I was told by the USAO that I would be notified when that happened. Does that really happen? I don’t know what good knowing will do, but I still want to know. To be honest, I’ve thought about moving so he couldn’t find us. Should I email or call the attorney from the case?
