Really beautiful.

This is so weird, but I listen to "get sleepy" on spotify and last nights was about a flower farm? So I thought this this post was talking about that?!

But yes it does sound nice. I knew someone who had a small flower farm, sold at a local farmers market. They were soo expensive but really beautiful. She moved back to the city recently and just gardens for fun, so I'm guessing it wasnt very profitable. Must have to be independently wealthy to make it work haha.

I think you want to be unemployed with a huge garden.

I do not have a flower farm by any stretch of the imagination, but I do plants lots of flowers in my yard (mainly dahlias and zinnias), plus herbs to use as filler.

During peak season I think my neighbors get sick of me sending over bouquets. Good friends know they have an open invitation to cut anytime without checking in with me. My husband doesn't look twice anymore when random people are walking around the front yard looking at flowers.

If anybody mentions them to me, I always let people cut anything they want, and usually 1-2 times/year I send out a message to the neighborhood to come pick (usually after a vacation and the flowers are overwhelming me).

I do it because I like it (I like watching it all grow mainly), and being able to add a little cheer to my 'hood is an added bonus.

It is a hobby, and I save seeds/tubers every year, so after the initial investment, the amount of $$ it costs me is minimal.

I also grow lots of tomatoes and hand them out/stick a free sign in my front yard with extras. I have gardening friends that I supply with starts in the spring as well.

With 10 dogs and a handful of horses, some goats, a few cats and chickens to keep company. Flower farming only takes up a few hours a day, luckily, so I can spend the rest of my time writing and walking with my animals.

they started out leasing land, many people own land but need someone to farm it to get the tax break of calling it a farm.

You should try to work there for a bit and see if it's something you can do.

I'm sure you could talk to them to see if it's feasible.

Most flower farmers I follow on Insta are doing this either on the side with a full-time job or have a partner with a steady job. Except for the really big names like Floret.

I know a few personally. They’re sometimes slightly profitable but not if you count the real estate.

Okay to pick as your all consuming lifestyle, but not okay if you need it to fund your retirement.

Buying some land, creating a flower farm and selling bouquets/arrangements?

Wish I could do some version of this. Not sure if it's profitable though!
