+1!

It was suggested to me by someone who knows me well that I read the second book first, then go back and read the first, and then the third and final.

That 2-1-3 order worked for me, since I loved the second book and identified with the main female character (who wasn’t in the first book). I think if I’d started with the first, I would’ve liked it but wouldn’t have been hungry to finish the trilogy. YMMV.

What specific aspect of dystopias are your interested in/drawn to? What have liked/disliked in the past?

Np. Ooo, I haven’t heard of this, but I loved Dan Simmons’ other works that I’ve read! Thank you!

I have a some suggestions. These are all romances, so if that isn’t your cup of tea you should probably skip them.

Kit Rocha’s Beyond series is a long series (with 9 main books) that has an overarching story arc. Beware it is very explicit. Starts with Beyond Shame.

Kit Rocha’s Mercenary Librarian series is set in the same universe but different geographical location. It’s not nearly as explicit. The first book is Deal with the Devil.

Alyssa Cole’s Radio Silence is the first book in a set with an apocalyptic setting.

Ilona Andrew’s Magic Bites is set in a dystopian Atlanta with a lot of magic/shifters/etc. It’s not strictly a romance but a long series with a romantic arc. For what it’s worth, the 2nd book is a lot better than the first. Some people recommend skipping the first book in the series.

I feel like I haven't found a good one for a bit now, or I've read all the "good" ones lol. Which ones do you like? YA is fine, preferably at least 3 books long (bonus if it's much longer). I like to really get into the world and characters.
