You can take any AP test without actually taking the class. Kids at the W schools have been doing this for years

Yes, an A would replace a B. There would be no grade replacement if the kid earned the same score. The transcript shows the semester the retake was taken (e.g., summer) and the new grade if higher. Colleges will know that the class was retaken.

The vendors that work with MCPS have a mix of formats. You have to apply first to get the list. I know two of the summer courses for calc are asynchronous.

Yes, as long as your child applies for approval first and works with their counselor.
