And no, I'm not posting the email. Its primary focus is on the lack of involvement (and awareness, apparently) of JW in this whole merger process and vague accusations of the MYS Board mismanaging the boys ECNL program.

We received the email as well. In sum, and according to the email, there was no transparency and people who should have been consulted were not.

I received said email from ECNL parent (and apparently a former MYS Board member). From the email, they have 10 kids, at least 8 of whom play/played ECNL-NL or RL. I assume I received the email b/c my player is/was on a team with one of his kids.

There's been a lot of discussion of the pros/cons of the MYS / Vienna / BRYC issue, but I haven't seen a well-reasoned, elaborate, detailed explanation of them. If there's nothing insulting or otherwise inappropriate in the email, I would be interested in reading this concerned parents' views on the merits of the merger, so consider posting the contents of the email (at least the relevant parts).

Stoddert families just graduate to BSC or stop playing soccer in HS, don't think there is a pipeline there. If someone could get kids from the east side of DC then you have some talent, but those families barely want to go Arlington or Alexandria. DC proper is not cut out for any of these brand leagues. But man is there talent there, if only DC united had an academy in DC

Even the top players are worried about this arrangement , not because they are worried about getting a spot, but because they are worried about who the coach will be (some not so great coaches from both clubs are possibilities) and how huge the rosters will be. Also worried because this roll out is a mess that was sprung on families right before try outs. Yes, they could go to other clubs but it would mean leaving behind a club and teammates they've been with for years.

Boys Union parent here, no email except the two from Union leadership. I don’t see much issue of the merger so yeah this parent is afraid their son will lose their spot. How painfully obvious. And throwing a fit is gonna help your son’s position? I can bet there is a lawsuit threat in that email. People need to calm down.

2 clubs in the same geographic location. Both not that great. Makes sense to merge them. If your kid is good they will make one of the teams. If they aren’t good enough they will need to practice more. Stop blaming people and complaining. Move on.

Why does this merger bother everyone so much. It is a strategic move motivated by the 2 main pillars of any club. Player pool and financial stability. The folks I've seen make a stink appear have some insecurities about their player's actual capabilities. 3/1 is tomorrow.....Go explore other clubs if you don't like the new union.
