My child goes to a Title 1 school. There is little to no PTA (I tried but we didn't have enough members to form an actual PTA). Not having a PTA means the teachers are largely responsible for creating events (if we have them) and there are little to no after school activities.

The free lunch was delicious that's a pro. The way the peddle influence to get teachers fired when we try to manage classes appropriately and fairness a con. These parents should sub the less affluent classes then they will appreciate what we do.

Organizing various in school and out-of-school events, such as in-school assembly, or a talent show held during non-school hours. Don't know what else ours does.

They could reply to messages more promptly?! But I'm sure most have other obligations aside from the volunteer role on the PTA.

Our PTA does an awesome job supporting teachers with both financial reimbursement of some classroom supplies and small food treats throughout the year. They run fun events, such as International Night and other fundraising and community nights. They also support and volunteer in a variety of ways around the school. What would be amazing would be if they could organize volunteers to help during inside recess. Having a few parents volunteer to help teach and play board games would be so helpful, but it's difficult to organize since it is weather dependent. Overall we love our PTA! (signed, a teacher)
