Some individual is astroturfing the holy hell out of this thread. I have no idea why some people on DCUM have such strong feelings about certain schools.

I don't have any affiliation, but WashU is obviously and objectively a good university. From the 90's until last year when USNWR changed its methodology, it was always ranked in the top 20 and spent over a decade in the top 15. https://datasciencetexts.com/diversions/college_ranks_race.html

In response to OP's question, WashU has been a good school many decades. It's fine. Also, OP please post your source of for the 40% ED claim. Prove you're not a troll because I'm deeply skeptical.

Dear god, the anti-WashU troll is back. Soon to bash UChicago, Colby, Northeastern and Vanderbilt. She never stops.

Why would a kid choose WashU over so many other options coast to coast.
I think it will fall to 30 soon on the rankings.

I'm sure St.louis is the real problem. The only thing WashU had over its peers (Emory, Rice etc) was that it was ranked higher. Not the case anymore.

WashU and Chicago are likely to stay somewhat lower in USNWR for at least the next couple of years. Long-term, I wouldn't have concerns about either of them though. Both are great schools with standout grad programs in a few areas (medicine and health sciences for Wash U and business, law, and econ for Chicago).

They're obviously doing that to counter drops in applications though.

This is the highest in the T40. Higher than BU.

Definitely on the fall. No one wants to go to Missouri, anyway.

Found out during the acceptance student day that WashU had a 40% ED1 acceptance rate. Not sure what ED2 was. That seems high for a top school. Any thoughts?
