This has been our experience as well.

We are not there but DC has many friends there- we are from St. Mary’s which is a big feeder school. The students we know there are having a very good experience.
FWIW DC would be there but opted for single-gender school instead.
Good luck.

I don’t have any personal connection to the school, but also live in Alexandria and have it on my radar. It seems like the academics are stronger than maybe in years past and in general offers a good culture and a lot of extracurriculars and courses etc. I like the size— it’s around 200 kids per class.

Kids are currently in Catholic school for K-8 but thinking ahead for high school, most of the kids from their school go Ireton or O'Connell. For our family Ireton makes the most sense (commute wise) but I don't know much about the school other than the location. I do see it has a high acceptance rate. We are not interested in any of the private independent schools or Big 3.

Strengths and/or weaknesses of Ireton? Is the community strong and involved? TIA!
