Sorry but 10 hours a week isn’t worth the headache especially if DC1 is having a “hard time”.

I hope you're not blaming the babysitter. This isn't a stable profession, you know, and you're not paying well enough to buy her loyalty.

Kids go through transitions, it's part of life, and you shouldn't "feel bad" for them. Take them as learning opportunities for them to grow. If you think your oldest is taking things too hard, then you can talk about it with the ped, and keep an eye on their development.

You should fill in.

Did the babysitter quit because DC is behaving differently now w/the addition of your new child?

I agree this sucks - definitely not ideal.
At. all. 🙁

Sorry to hear this.

If the babysitter was there for only ten hours a week, two hours a day, what is the transition? You are beyond ridiculous.

What don't you understand? It's written in plain English. OP or OPs co-parent just had a baby or adopted.

It's an obtuse and awkward way to word it - indirect and from the POV of the child - who does that?

10 hours isn't enough and depending on pay she probably found a better job.

How much were you paying her for two kids?

Ugh that is sucky timing. How old is DC? At only 10 hours per week surely DC isn’t too attached to the babysitter. It sucks when sitters quit like that but I think it’s more a logistical issue for you as parent than a sadness / loss for the kid. My kids
(Elementary school age) like their sitters but it’s not like they are family. When they move on, my kids are like, ok! Bye!

10 hours of work is not really a committment

I'd imagine 10 hours per week is extremely difficult to retain anyone so don't be too hard on yourself

DC just got a new sibling and is having a hard time, and now our babysitter (10 hours a week) just announced she is quitting. Feel so bad for my kid who is going to go through another change/transition at the worst possible time. Argh.
