I would highly doubt they'd allow a COSA and why would you do that? Blair is already way overcrowded.

If you live in the DCC your child can se,etc Blair as the first choice but it’s anyone’s guess if they get it.

Plenty of advanced classes at Blair that aren’t limited to magnet student. They’ll be fine, and have tons of extracurricular opportunities and clubs they likely wouldn’t have at a small private.

But don’t forget that magnet students have an extra period, so the kids wouldn’t necessarily be leaving school together, unless the other kid hung around for sports or something every day.

And there wouldn’t be a bus for them to take when leaving at a normal time, unless your home is zoned for another DCC school. So you’ll want to heck the public transportation options to be sure you don’t have to drive them every day.

My kids in their friends are younger but I know lots of siblings who get approved for COSAs so they can be at the same school. It seems simple enough to present this as a hardship at elementary but perhaps that is not the case for high school?

PPs, do we know from OP of they are zoned for Blair? If they are, the older can switch from private to Blair. If they are not zoned for Blair, then ChangeOfSchoolAssignment (COSA).

I don't believe the sibling can attend Blair. You could apply for a COSA (change of school assignment), but you would have to present a unique hardship as justification.

Your older child needs to be enrolled in MCPS and have a student ID. Then you can apply for a COSA to Blair. There are absolutely no guarantees that it will be approved. COSA is usually reserved for hardship cases, not siblings who want to attend the same school. If you're zoned for the DCC, you might be able to work something out although I think the lottery deadline has already passed.

Why don't you find out from school if she can be at Blair if Blair is not your boundary HS. Then, search the MANY threads about Blair magnet and non magnet.

DC was invited to join at Blair Math magnet. We are new to MCPS. DC has decided to attend Blair. DC's older sibling is at private. Can sibling attend Blair ? We understand that she will not be in the Blair magnet program as she will be in 10th grade next year. So can she attend as a "regular" Blair HS student? It would make our schedule much easier. If yes, would there be advanced class options/AP available to her? TIA!
