43. I have an IUD and just started using topical 2% minoxidil. I've never had a problem with acne.

Plenty of women take BCP into their 50’s, if they don’t have risk factors.

Spironolactone has stopped my period as well. So that's another benefit.

It depends on the reason for hair loss and the BCP. Agreed that it should evaluated carefully.

Are you at high risk of blood clots? Has your gynecologist recommend you go off hormonal birth control due to this?

Birth control does not prevent hair loss. Or acne. That is diet and cortisol levels.

Just get your tubes tied at 41.

I had to stop taking BCPs in my early 40s due to elevated blood pressure. Switched to an IUD. I like it generally (no periods!), but unfortunately my acne is worse now and so is the hair loss.

This is what I did. It lowers risk of ovarian cancer. Very easy surgery for me, basically one day out (mostly bc of anesthesia) and then a couple days of taking it easy. No side effects.

^^ PP here -- my friend just got a salpingectomy, aka surgical removal of her fallopian tubes. This is what a lot of GYNs are doing now instead of tubal ligations. I'd consider this.
