I’m not sure why you assume your child’s friends will struggle. My kid takes no extracurricular math and consistently scored 58-59/60 on the practice exams, as did many friends without extracurricular math programs. Many Kids do just fine on this test with *only* FCPS curriculum.

Here is hoping they do better then I think they will. I know that they have not done practice exams at school and I know the parents of the kids I am thinking about so I know that they have not done practice exams at home.

There's a test section in SIS. Test results usually show up there a bit before they come either in the mail or in Tuesday/Wednesday/<whatever day your school does> folders. Up until a few years ago it seemed test results came in the mail but lately they seem to be coming in folders more often.

Any idea when to expect results for FCPS schools? Do these arrive via mail or in schoology?

Just make sure your child can process questions and do computations quickly and accurately. I had DD do a workbook (their instruction was disrupted by COVID), and the only useful thing was the graphs section, since it was de-emphasized (not taught). Everything else in the book was substantially more difficult than what was on the test.

I had written about it here while it was fresh in my mind.

There are many practice books, but to the best of my knowledge, none of them has real test questions. They are good for general pre-algebra practice and test-taking practice.

It's not a hard test and it shouldn't cover anything they don't already know. It's more of a test of fluency.

My kid is in private and they take the Iowa test in April. I don’t think there is a practice test? When I asked the school I was told it’s the sane every year so there is no practice version. My kid is in 6th now.

DC told us there’s a question at school Iowa practice test he didn’t know since his teacher never taught that in class, I had no idea about it neither so just asked DC to search keyword online for info. DC also told us his friend told him he had the same Iowa work book at home so the friend knew every questions. We didn’t thought about getting anything to prepare DC for Iowa since it’s something related to speed and they have enough math assignments from school daily already. My question is, if there’s something not being taught at school but appeared in school iowa practice test, does it mean Iowa is an adaptive test ( but DC said it’s a paper pencil test)? And is Iowa test for pre-algebra or algebra? Thanks for your help in advance.
