Make sure you use the benefits. I have had only one job that offered benefits. I benefited form none of them. I have no idea what they were, but I do know the list was long.
My salary was $39k, but I took home only $1029 every two weeks. I have no idea where the money went.

It can be almost impossible to get in these days but some of the GS ladders are decent. I took a 7/9/11 recently.

Jobs in city, county or state government usually have good benefits but the hiring process can be slow. Libraries, social services, health, planning, records and other agencies, parks, etc. There are many types of support positions even if you don't think you have the exact background.

This can be a stressful job but a sibling (college educated, normal) sibling does this and makes good money; she also keeps great hours and is able to come home in the middle of the day.

What would they be aside from Starbucks, Costco? I already looked at those and none near me. I have skills but don't want to use them because my field is mostly freelance and poorly paid anyway.
