Congrats!

I was moved against my will (see: ex-spouse dream turns into nightmare). So started over at 40 and I understand the difficulty of processing memories and stuff. I’m settled in now and sold my old house and got divorced.

Why are you calling it your dream job?

OP,

Look at this as an opportunity to make changes in your non-work life that you may have been reluctant (or resistant) to changing. The greatest feeling in life to me is learning something new - it's a feeling of childlike wonder when that light bulb goes off.....

Nothing special, just a fed going from one fed gig to another, lateral move. Therefore I don't have any useful insights for that thread unfortunately. Stupidly, but maybe not, I'd rather be like everyone on that thread, looking for new work, but at least I would still have my old non-work life. That is the point of this thread.

A fed job (not my first fed job, and this move was lateral)

Got my dream job at 45, lots of flexibility, contains room for advancement (of course any of this can change, but for the sake of the discussion let's assume these things have a good chance of staying in place) but had to relocate leaving great home and friends behind. I am single. I feel like I am starting my life from scratch. But I felt I needed to make this move to secure my (solo) future. But it is all tough, starting over at middle age, because one has a lot of memories to process. Just a warning, don't make a move like mine lightly.
