There are none. You don’t play HS soccer for development, you play for fun.


This is mostly true.
I will say, however, that if you play private your kid is more likely to make varsity earlier, and I think it helped my son’s development to play varsity as a freshman, and have to face stronger, faster players every day in practice.
Of course, that comes with a higher injury risk, but we got lucky.

Yep. And spring sucks for them because 98% of the team is playing HS soccer and practices/games essentially end by March for club.

DC/MD/privates = Fall HS soccer
VA publics = Spring HS soccer

My kid does spring HS track and the mixed practice sessions with other kids not playing HS soccer.

I’m not sure I understand, but if you’re asking about high school placement from a soccer perspective it’s irrelevant. If you are in NOVA I would go public because as someone else said the private school season is in the fall. It’s hard to balance HS soccer and club soccer and injuries are most likely. No colleges watch HS games. Get top grades, challenge your DC with the toughest courses they can handle, and get them on a good team that will attend the top events. That’s where the coaches are, and grades still matter at many colleges. Your high school team doesn’t. Play for fun.
