1300 applications for 300 seats doesn’t mean that they reject 900. Some people turn it down so they admit way more than 300. Catholic schools are not that hard to get into.

Don't worry.
If you are in DC, the college outcomes from JR for a kid who does the work are FAR better than the same kid from SJC.
I don't know as much about MCPS but I would imagine it is similar.

SJC had 1300 applications this year. So very difficult to get in.

I thought SJC decisions were out at 4 pm today, where are people seeing acceptances/rejections?

I see "Decline to Enroll" on the portal for my kid but no idea if that means there's been a decision or if everyone is seeing that.

We were surpised to have received ours in the mail yesterday

I am sorry OP. If WL’d there will be movement. DS was WL at another school, his first choice. We were disappointed at first but then helped him get really hyped about his other choices.
Most important is to allow the disappointment, but then help DC learn to bounce back and embrace the open door. I empathize though. It is a tough few weeks.

We are getting ready to apply for colleges next year and I do think it helps me and DS that we had this happen for HS. Going through the application process, needing to have a good application to put forth, and managing the disappointment, has taught us something. And I am sure we will be going through it all again soon.

Mine was rejected last year. It takes a week and then they get ready to move on. 1300 applicants for 300 spots is really tough. Also connections, sports, board members kids etc get preference. I promise you will all land in a place your kid will be happy.

This. Let them be sad. It will pass and they will settle in to the right place.

I'm so sorry. This entire process is incredibly stressful for both parents and kids. I hope your child is happy where they end up

I’m sorry, OP. Waitlisted or rejected outright?

DC is incredibly bummed.
