I wonder if any of these deaths are actually accidental (i.e. maybe fentanyl related).

Yet every time someone posts in DCUM about how grim and awful the environment is on these elite campuses these days, all their rabid fans scream about how wrong that assessment is and that everything is perfect.

Grade deflation at Princeton makes it worse than other places

Unfortunately not surprising. The pressure and stress kids are under in HS to get admission to a T10-20 school leaves many with mental illness issues before they even enter college

A lot of young adults are really struggling with mental health. I think more than we were that age. Maybe partly due COVID, probably more due to social media. It's really so sad.

Unfortunately, they happen at most schools. The number is sad but not shocking.

Is the one who died last week ruled suicide?

I know one of the victims.

It’s a bad environment right now. Toxic. Too much pressure. Grade deflation.

So sad. I had a good experience at Princeton years ago but my mental health has never been worse than it was then, I think it was the age, the intensity of my peers, the high expectations I had for myself, the workload, the unrealistically inflated ideas of “success.” Not really the school environment though.

Suicides are at all schools. but more common at "top" schools.. I am guessing the reason is obvious. So sad nonetheless

This is sad, news of suicides mostly came from U of Penn and Cornell, Princeton was supposed to be a better place for mental health support.

Can any parents of current students speak to the climate on campus?
