Really? I feel like it’s been drilled into me to not do this because of house parties.

My kids wouldn't dare. As Cosby said, I brought them into this world and I can take them out of it. They know this.

I would since you have a trustworthy kid.

I would take her. Mine leaves for college in June, and I don't know that he'll ever be back for more than a few days at a time. Don't squander the opportunity to spend time with yours.

Break rules? Your rules should be: be safe. Don't burn the house down. No parties. If sex happens in your house, that shouldn't be something on your mind.

I don’t think she would break rules and have him overnight, but I guess if that’s the worst thing?

Do you leave your kids alone in your house at this age?

We have and it was fine. We do have a good security system, smoke and leak detectors, ring bells and cameras so DC's safety wasn't an issue. Many of our neighbors are like family so help was always a holler/phone call away. We wouldn't have done it if DC wasn't sensible.

I only go away if the paint cans have been securely tied to strings from the ceiling, my kid has a BB gun for protection, they know how to rig a camping flame to a door handle to handle intruders...you know, what the annual PSA movie says to do each year.

We also travel with her in the summer. She has school so she wouldn’t be able to go anyway. This is a trip just for DH and me.
