10/10 recommend a vacuum on each floor! I keep a central vac tool kit on my main and upper floors and then an older Miele in my basement. It's so nice to not drag hoses/machines up and down the stairs.
OP here. I hate dragging my vacuum up from the basement, especially up to the second floor. In fact dread of doing so means I don't vacuum as often as I should. But I don't have room to store a vacuum on every floor.
