I am having luck with 25 mg of Zoloft although I’ve been told it’s not a therapeutic dose. I feel less wound up, less agitated, and am able to keep a level head over things that would have caused me to spiral. Maybe I’d feel better at a higher dose but it took a while longer than I expected for the side effects to settle, so I’m not planning on messing with things right now. I gained weight but it was around the holidays and, frankly, no more than I usually gain around that time, so it probably is less likely to be from the Zoloft.

OP: have you seen the research about sucking on sour candy to distract you from your thoughts? It essentially refocuses your attention.

Most people are less anxious at home; you just need to build resilience and coping mechanisms rather than perseverate on items that stress you out.

Google the research.

I take 50 mg and have actually lost weight.

FWIW I take Lexapro for GAD and have no issues with weight gain or diminished sex drive. Everyone is different.

+1 I gained weight on Zoloft (which didn't work for my anxiety) but had no weight gain on Lexapro, which made my anxiety manageable enough that therapy could really work.

You might ask your doctor to try Buspar or Cymbalta. I don’t think either of those are linked to weight gain for most people.

Exxua (gepirone)- ganechanger:

"..Unlike most other antidepressants, Exxua doesn’t carry a warning of weight gain or sexual dysfunction, suggesting that it may increase compliance for patients who experience these common adverse effects from other treatment options..."

I am not depressed at all though, I am actually 100% happy and content when I can just be home and chill and not worry about things. The issue is I have two teens and a job and some social situations that really stress me out and worry me to the point I feel like I am going mad.

Lexapro will fix that but will kill your sex drive and add weight. I’ve done 3 rounds of Lexapro and tons of therapy and now feel like I can handle it without meds.

That's a no then because weight contributes to my anxiety.

Consider talking with your doc about Exxua (gepirone).

It is also prescribed for this type of anxiety (most of these meds are for both even if it's called Off-Label). Of course talk with your doctor before you do anything. But the Lexapro side effects may be very real and could potentially wipe out sexual relations from one's life while pilling on lbs.

Most longer-term anti-anxiety meds are also anti-depressants.

If you are on them do they help? Which and did you gain weight? My anxiety has gotten really hard to deal with.
