The idea of a hostess gift is bonkers, especially if this is arranged by the university.

Like cookies from a bakery (if it's easy to carry them fresh). Or like little packages with expensive-seeming snacks, crackers, whatever. (Make sure at least some are vegan since that is a popular choice, at least among my kid's college aged friends.)

I have a kid in college and she would love this and share it with kids on her floor.

Leave the “my mom” bit out and not home made due to dorm allergies.

Terrible suggestions. Something DC related. Crabcakes and football.

I really don’t think college students expect “hostess” gifts! If anything, a gift card for a local coffee shop or food delivery place is probably a safe bet.

If arranged by the college, then nothing, although she might want to take note of their interests and send something small and thoughtful after.

DD is going to spend three days on a campus (for interviews) hosted by two first year roommates. She’s been trying to think about hostess gifts for them ($20-$30 range). Not sure if it should be DC themed or not. Would love some suggestions.
