Some years ago, when we were downsizing, I decided I would allow the library to store my giant collection of books and DVDs, in much the same way that Steven Wright keeps his large collection of seashells scattered on beaches around the world. So we kept the favorite/rare/out of print items, but donated the rest.

Now, if we want to read or watch a particular title, voila, there it is at the library.

Ask first. Stuff does go out of print and off services.

Just like record players are back, there will probably be dvd player revivals in the future if needed.

But in general, move it along.

We have several DVDs as well, but only kept the ones our DC watched on repeat. Most of the movies are on Disney+ now and easy to access so maybe donate the DVDs to your local library?

We always donate things not getting used by family, no matter wedding dresses, formal suits, children's clothing, toys, dvd, electronics or what not. No point in hoarding things others can use. We don't have decade old stuff saved for no reason.

I have much younger kids and we still have a handful of DVDs. When our crappy Xfinity connection isn’t working, it’s good to still be able to put a movie on.

My oldest was born in 2000 and youngest in 2006. We've lived in the same house since 2006 and still have a huge collection of Disney DVDs (and a few other kid/family things, but mostly Disney) from their childhood. I don't think any of them have been watched in years but they've just been sitting on a shelf in the rec room of our basement. We're doing some renovations in the basement now and will have to move that shelf-unit...and wondering if we should keep them? We do have a DVD player still, but haven't used it in year, and if it stops working I don't know that we would buy a new one (if they even still sell them!)

If you have similarly aged kids, do you still have these DVDS?
