Depends on the state. If they get a lot of applicants from your state, it’s harder. Applying from a state that sends them fewer apps is easier. Every OOS kid I know there had the same or lower stats. They came from southern states.

He would be accepted ED, but RD they would probably waitlist him. With those stats he will likely get in somewhere better, and they want to manage yield.

The 75th percentile of enrolled students last year had a 1510 or better. I believe the OOS stats are available in SCHEV. The percentage of acceptance for OOS is lower at below 12%. What is weighted gpa?

What state? If you're in Montana or Alabama, you probably have a better chance with those stats (which are really really good) than if you're from PA or NY.

UVA out of state is a reach for everyone. Period. Your kid has as good a chance as anyone though. All you can do is apply.
