OP here, I’m early 40s, 5’9” former athlete - still muscular, not as thin (surgery was correcting history of chronic ankle damage from sports), and in finance (investment & portfolio management).

Will likely be brace less by then. I could, as someone suggested, tape it so its more obvious and go with a more sneakery shoe, but I think given the leather look of the dress would rather look more street wear-ish. Would a pair of Nike AF1/Dunks (low not high top) be too young? Is the what looks like a running shoe linked about what is street style right now? I do see younger people in those large orthopedic looking massive white shoes.

I have an upcoming dinner with several girl friends, for an industry adjacent event.

The organizer, a good personal friend, recently ordered this dress: https://spanx.com/products/leather-like-sleeveless-sheath-dress. It wasn’t a good size for her but as it was final sale, she asked me if I wanted it, and I said sure, and then she said, “you should wear it to [this dinner event]”. I’m probably between sizes so I like it, also it doesn’t fit as body consciously as the model. Also, I would likely pair with a blazer.

Here is my question - I had major ankle a couple months ago and am barely in anything more day to day than a brace and a Hoka. I’m absolutely not in anything heeled yet. Could I wear a fashion sneaker with this and what would recommend? I was kind of thinking like a Veja Esplar with gold accents but would be open to any flat heeled shoe suggestions wise fashionistas of DCUM. Google checking fashion blogs is entirely unhelpful.
