FCPS failed to teach my kid to read at an acceptable level. No dx (we had him tested) just left behind in a class of 30+. Switched to private and he's flourishing.

Spend a day at my kid's school, you'd understand. For us, the cost has no real impact on our lives, so we prioritized giving our kids the best possible experience in being prepared for college and beyond.

These all make sense. Good point - MCPS is a mess now. Also I do see better college placement since it's less competitive. Thanks!

Because I don’t want my kid in a school with 3,000 students. Because I want my kid at a school that will reinforce our family’s values. Because I want my school where the administration supports its teachers. Because I want my kid at a school where they use textbooks. Because I want my kid at a school where they enforce discipline. Lots of reasons. You do you, op.

Because we wanted her to better enjoy her educational experience more. We are zoned for a W school that is an overcrowded rat race. Her private school has been amazing and allows her to dig deeper into subjects, form closer bonds with teachers/admin, have great college counseling guidance, and more. I went to a public school and it was fine, but I wanted more than that for DD.

smaller classes thus more individual participation, better counseling for college admissions, better food and extra-curricular activities
