We never did all these stupid dress up events growing up. We only would dress up for Halloween. What happened? Where are all these dumb ideas coming from?

I don't love it, but I also wouldn't get mad and throw a fit because there are too many other battles to fight.

I'm far from someone to quickly cry offense on these kinds of topics. However, my kids were recently reenacting some of the "Grannies" scenes from Bluey around my 70yo mom, who is pretty laid back, and she noted that it wasn't really kind of them to be stereotyping old people with such a broad brush in a way that was meant to be laughter-inducing. So I've actually become a little more aware of and sensitive to this topic recently - agree that it's not that deep but more aware that we should make sure it's fun vs. making fun of.

My bigger issue with these days is that it's just additional parent (often mom) homework.

Why is everything an outrage now? Things like this are fun for kids, and I don’t imagine any 100 year old taking offense.

This is why I manage discussions on our school’s family FB page. That nonsense has to be nipped in the bud. Lordy people are stupid.

I suspect the kind of people who worry about little kids acting ageist don’t often live to be 100. These celebrations are fun.

I think it sounds really cute for little kids.

This is the current debate at my child's school which recently celebrated 100 days of school.

The floodgates opened on the school FB page, where pictures of the 100th day of school celebration--little kids and teachers with housecoats, grey died hair, canes, walkers, etc. -- were posted and someone set off a firestorm of comments about the appropriateness of it.
