I’ve purchased lard at Eastern Market in DC — so that’s an option if you can’t find it in Rockville.

I'm not a fan of lard. Don't see a real reason for it. Just use crisco if you want crispiness in cookies.

Pie crust and Cuban bread are excellent “reasons”.

I get lard in the butter section at Wegman's. I use it a couple of times a year. It keeps very well in the refrigerator over the course of a year.

I am experimenting with almond cookies. I will try this one with lard which is supposed to be more authentic.

And I will try one with butter and one with shortening.

But, I need to find lard first!!

Godspeed. Report findings back to DCUM when complete.

Check farmers markets. The Rockville farmers market had an Amish stand that sold lard. I know the market is closed for winter, but you could check the seller online and see where else they sell.

Check the Amish Farmers Market in German town, they should have it.

The Clark’s farm also sell lard, but they are also closed for the season.

Where can I get lard in Rockville? I've checked Giant, Safeway and Great Wall supermarket. I've also tried with the app.

Looks like you can get large quantities online, but I only want 1 pound for a recipe.
