Maybe its an APS thing but I don't know.
It's not, though there are a few schools that don't my school does not allow food but some sneak it in.

I’ve had kids in ACPS since 2011 and food has never been allowed in elementary parties. Even fruit and vegetables! We thought it was silly.

Our APS elementary school allows parties, but generally snacks are discouraged in the classes that have allergies.

Hi! Does your child's school allow snacks or candy for Valentine's Day or birthdays?
Does your kid's school allow class parties for things live Valentine's Day, Halloween, end of the year or Winter break with parents?
My child's school allows none of this. It seems like the principal is sucking all the fun out of school. Daily snacktime isn't even allowed, just hungry students! Is this the norm everywhere now or just us? We're at ACPS.
