I like it too! Cast is fantastic and the angle they are exploring -- the choices different people made in occupied France with regards to the Nazis -- is not overly examined at this point. I like that they are viewing the choices various people make, from full resistance to full collaboration, with curiosity instead of judgement. Because it forces me, as the viewer, to really consider what I might do in the same situation.
Usually stories like this assume everyone is ready to be a full on fighter for the Resistance, and that's totally unrealistic. Resistance fighters risked their lives daily. Most people made compromises. How they made those choices is pretty fascinating, and using the world of haute couture as a backdrop makes sense because the names and culture feels familiar (to me) so it feels real and immediate.
