If you’ve decided to park in garage 1 or 2 (we always park in 2), make reservations now. They can fill up a week ahead. Can also cancel up to the last minute (at least this was the case about 6 months ago).

This

It doesn't really matter at Dulles which airline you flying. Especially if international.

Don't be a dick.

Agree. Some people are jerks. Maybe OP wanted info you couldn’t find on a map?

Use the valet — it isn’t much more than the daily parking.

I always park in long-term economy parking. I’ve been doing this for years, at all times, and have never had an issue waiting for shuttle. No matter where you park, the drop gear, kids and one parent at terminal is a good idea.

If you can afford it, the daily/hourly lot right outside the terminal is closest. I think it is $32/day. The garages are still a bit of a hike if you have a bunch of stuff to lug. If going the garage route, drop everyone at the front with the luggage and gear and park by yourself.

We parked in Garage 1 over the weekend and it was a 7 to 10 minute walk to get to where you'd drop luggage and requires moving walkways and an escalator or elevator.

If you book in advance online it is often cheaper.

You can pre book online. It will tell for each price tier how far away it is.

Yes, definitely reserve parking. I'm not sure if it's still the case, but the garage that is on the side only took reservations when we parked at Dulles last year. You could not enter without one, and you have to make it 24 hours in advance.

Garage 2 is closer and most of the walk will be inside the terminal. Reserve not only for the discount but also because Garage 2 can fill up.

Which garage is closest to Delta terminal? Does it matter? Thanks.

Garage 2 is closest to the delta check in area. Reserve 24 hours in advance for a discount. Park on level 3 to minimize elevators. There's a luggage cart rental on the terminal end of the garage.

Garage two is closer to the terminal. Make a parking reservation.

My husband always drops us off and picks us up and he parks the car alone. The kids and I check our luggage and collect it on the return trip. We’ve done it this way for years and it works great.

There is only one terminal so really doesn't matter. Might want to drop off one parent at the terminal with things to check, while the other one drives to the parking, saves some time.
