So, they did send an officer, but the parents don’t want to press charges and they were just coming over to investigate who “Jane Doe” was? Now it’s even more bizarre! What if WE want to escalate this now? Someone roped our DD into this!

Well, that’s what I’m thinking! But he had a real police car and whole uniform including all the pieces and a radio that was chattering the whole time. I honestly don’t know why a fraudulent officer would be interested in our random house.

I’d call the non emergency number and explain what happened and ask if one of their officers came to your house.

It was definitely the police. I didn’t see anything. He just said that a young girl in X city received pornography sent from DD. I asked how they knew it was DD and he said her name and address was in the return address. I explained that DD couldn’t have done it, he apologize and left.

This is not how law enforcement handles these kinds of matters....

He didn’t show ID, but was clearly a police officer. I don’t doubt that. I can’t make out any information on our cameras, they aren’t the greatest at night. We’ve been meaning to upgrade. He didn’t leave a card and I didn’t think to ask. My heart was racing and I was a little bit in shock. It happened so fast. It was truly bizarre.

People's names and addresses are pretty public...my wife gets letters addressed to her by name from Jehovah's witnesses...but I agree this sounds strange. You could report it to your local police or the FBI just to have a record, but I agree it's weird.

The more I think about what happened last night, the less it makes sense.

Around 9pm last night there was a knock at our door. It was the police—I saw the car in our driveway and an officer at our door. My heart skipped a beat and I opened the door thinking someone had been killed, only to be told that a random child in a neighboring city had received an envelope containing pornography (adult) sent by our DD, return addressed in her name. I explained that I doubted our 10yo sent this and it sounded like a really horrible prank, and DD10 was clueless. She hasn’t been out of my sight in weeks, she just hasn’t had plans or I was with her during them. The officer apologized and left. I was sort of shaken up and haven’t had a clear mind to think about it until now.

Wouldn’t a detective handle this? Why would they come knocking at 9pm?

Who would do this to DD? We have no connection to anyone in that town. If someone was pranking DD, how would they know a child lived at that random address?

DD said nobody has treated her weird or different at school this week or last. I would assume this would have been mailed over the weekend to arrive on Monday.

The officer said nothing more about us being contacted about this or anything. It’s just so weird. I’m not even sure which jurisdiction he was from, I was so first afraid, then shocked.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?
