We are in the SW in a smaller city so that is likely a factor too but still, $10k/week is a lot.

To make this financially doable for my family I think we’d need around $10k/month but it would include all utilities.

$3500/week may not qualify as luxury but you should check with some agents in your area. Where my second home is the higher end homes start at $10k/week. You are much better off using an agent than trying to drum up business yourself.

Op here. If the rental extends into the summer, I’ll take the kids to Guatemala or Mexico and live super cheap.

If it’s still during the school year, I’m going to try to move to a small short term apartment or even like a Residence Inn or something similar. It’s not ideal but it would be temporary.

Op here. I mean, we’ve gotten $3500/week on Airbnb with good ratings. There are some belongings in the home but I think we’ve done ok since we’ve gotten good reviews on Airbnb. I have used my time off to declutter like a mad woman and we get professional deep cleanings before anyone checks in.

It’s a nice house in a good neighborhood, just outside the city but on 3 acres, 4000 sq feet, 5 beds and 5 baths, hot tub, pool, Mountain Views, etc.

We have a 2.5% interest rate and bought before prices exploded so we really don’t want to sell.

Of course they do lol. And they also vet the renters, so you don’t end up with squatters in your home!

Maybe reach out to local builders/remodeling firms? They may have clients that will need a place to stay while their house is built or remodeled. I would have loved this option when we had a tree fall on our house - we were in a corporate apartment for 3 months.

Where do people find this kind of housing? Actual houses that are fully furnished, all utilities included, rental term of 1-4 months?

The reason I ask is I am actually trying to rent my house out this way. I have it listed on Airbnb and have rented it a few times for a week or so that way, but I’m looking for something that is longer than Airbnb but less than a year.

For even more context, I recently lost my job, I don’t want to lose our house but I can’t afford to keep it while I job search. I’m trying to find a way to monetize it in the meantime. The mortgage is only $3400/month, we’ve been able to get $3500/week for it on Airbnb but our area is saturated with rentals so we only manage to get it rented when occupancy in our city is very high.
