Subject: Friend gave her newborn same name as my son
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, OP. You - and your son - should feel complimented, not upset.

It’s just a name.

I don’t think it’s quite as weird as everyone else does. Or maybe I do think it’s weird but also no big deal.

Don’t let it bother you
And you weren’t the first one to name a kid Liam, Henry, or Emma Grace.

If it bothers you, you don't need to consider this person a friend.

Weird, but don't overthink. NBD in scheme of things-- it really doesn't affect you

Weird, yes, but nothing you can do. If you like her, you stay friends. If you're on the fence, move on.

Weird, sure. A close friend? In my experience, one of you, or both, will move out of the area in the next 5-10 years and this will be a faint memory.

NP. There’s nothing you can do about it, so either keep being her friend or drop her. Those are your options.

It's weird, yeah, but take it as a compliment. This isn't something to get offended over.

Op, if the name is Matthew, I would drop it!
I know many people like that name plus many friends with the same name as others in the circle.
Now, I've never shared this with my friend but she took both the first and middle name I had picked out but she had her kid before me! I now honestly can't recall the middle name, NBD.
Yes, your feeling is totally normal lol

Think of it as a compliment. This is not something to get upset about.

My son is 3 years old. She copied his first and middle name. When we went over yesterday to meet the baby and bring a gift (she had the baby at the end of the month) she was like "Surprise! We liked [son's name] so much we decided to give it to our baby, isn't that awesome?!"
Except we picked his name based on family members whose memories we want to keep alive. She just ... copied us. Obviously we don't have a monopoly or anything but to copy BOTH the first AND middle names? It's weird, right? I'm trying to let it go but having a hard time.
