I wouldn’t have reacted like that. Just reminded him that you don’t share toothbrushes. You didn’t have to throw out the toothbrush , in the future you can just soak the head of the brush for 5 minutes in Listerine if you’re worried about germs.

You owe your kid an apology. A rant over trying younger sib's toothbrush? Terrible parenting.

I grew up with a mom like OP who overreacted to everything. Shocking that we had no relationship the second I was out of the house.

This has to be a troll. If not, OP is a terrible parent.

Overreacting like crazy. I would have rinsed it, told him to use his own toothbrush to limit the spread of germs (you’re not going to stop it), let him know he could just have asked me for another brush, and bought one.

“Stealing” “creepy”?? You’re overreacting big time. He’s a kid!

This reaction is wildly out of proportion to what happened. I also don't like the idea of sharing toothbrushes, but kids swap germs all the time and it certainly isn't worth a 20 minute or even two minute lecture. I would apologize to your child about your overreaction last night and just provide a simple gentle reminder that it is important that we each use our own toothbrushes since they can have our germs on it. One sentence is all that is needed. "ohh ew sweetie you can't use your brothers toothbrush. That has his germs on it so it isn't something we share. Oh you liked that it sings? Got it next time let me know and I'll be happy to get you one like that" Done.

Overreacting. Siblings swap germs all the time. It’s not ideal, of course, but I wouldn’t flip out over it.

Overkill for me. I'd just put hydrogen peroxide on the toothbrush and remind him not use his siblings toothbrush because it's gross, but it's not like he used a toothbrush that was in left in a pile.of sh#t.

Wow. You have issues and don't give them to your kid.

Way overreacting.
