I had my kids always write Thank yous but we have never once received one back from any of the parties we've been to and we have been to many times.

Yes if someone gives them presents (only birthday party I’ve hosted so far was no gift but three guests brought gifts anyway) my kids have to do thank you notes.

I don’t care what anyone else does.

In my town, paper notes were sent following birthday parties. Hand-written by the children.

Did the school friends give him a gift? If so, why would not write a thank you note to them. It would be the last gift my child would ever give.

If someone takes the time to bring you a gift, you take the time to thank them. In writing. That's the rule in our home

For little kids, a quick thank you text to their mom.

We do. My DD8 has to write them and I'll address the envelopes and mail them. My DS5 signs his name and draws a little picture.

If course! His friends (parents) spent money on a gift and his friends gave their time to attend his party. Teach your child good manners as this will be important in life. As Clarence Thomas once (and the only thing I agree with him) said. "Good manners will open doors that the best education will not.".

We do. It's good manners, it's good writing practice, helps cultivate gratitude, and gives DS a reality check for next (Do I want to write 40 Thank You notes for 40 presents? No? Then I won't invite 40 people to my party).

Yep. I'm not even old or southern.

My kids do not, only because it impossible to give them to the other kid without mailing them or without giving them out in school and possibly making any uninvited kids feel bad.

I email or text the parent a thank you with a photo of our kids at the party or a photo of my kid with their gift as he opened it.

If it's an unsolicited gift (not given at a birthday party), then yes, my kid does a thank you card.

My kids do, but I don't care what anyone else does.
