Our child was the same, but ruled out Tufts after visiting (it's not in the city, and, they didn't like the "vibe" [yes, I eye-rolled at that]), and BC wouldn't work (religious reasons). They ED'd to NEU and are attending. They did plan to ED2 to BU, but it wasn't necessary

Currently, she's interested in becoming a psychologist and opening up her own practice. However, her interests have shifted over the past couple of years and I think she wants a school that is flexible in regard to her major in case she changes her mind again

Tufts is the most overrated out of the 4 schools. BU is not overpriced compared to any other private schools.

Just because they are all in Boston doesn't mean those schools are alike otherwise. BC fits a certain type--you know if you fit. To elaborate, she has some minor leadership in clubs at her school but nothing too crazy. She has also done some volunteering in the past. She is an excellent writer and I'm hoping her essays will strengthen the application

OP here, planning a visit for later this month. The coop experience appeals because I think it will suit her well for her career. She has a 1490 SAT and is on track for valedictorian (she's never gotten lower than an A) but her ECs are not up to par for top schools

They all have different vibes, and certain schools may be a better fit for specific types of kids.

It will completely depend on her transcript and test scores. If she shoots too high, she'll waste her ED pick. Is she a good student, or a great student?

Some of Northeastern's programs are actually in Boston.

Has she considered any of the smaller schools?

Does she want the coop experience that Northeastern offers? Does she want to be in the city or more suburban?

The big 4 schools after MIT and Harvard in Boston area. Can't go wrong with any of the schools.

I just had my son post this on A2C but I thought I would get a 2nd opinion from some fellow parents. My daughter is a junior and she knows she wants to go to school in Boston. She’s considering these 4 schools: Boston College, Tufts, BU, and Northeastern. She is going to apply to all of them but she wants to apply to one for Early Decision 1 and another for Early Decision 2 if she does not get in. To my knowledge, all of them offer ED2 plans. What school would you pick for these admission plans? I am not too knowledgeable about the ins and outs of these universities. She wants to study psychology and she also enjoys math, chemistry, and biology. Which of these schools offers the best undergrad experience or programs for her major? Thanks
