Does anyone here a have any direct experience?
Will my pension in MCPS supplemental/Maryland transfer over?
I have experience in facilities with similar students, but any more unique situations? I assume these are very short term placements and my goal is to just keep them up until return to a home school.
Are all classes co-taught? Is security and expectations high?
Hi, could you show me where that's been published? I can't find it. I don't doubt you, just that it's news to me.
The physical facility is in very poor shape. Although I don't know if they have been rehabbing it over the past year or so. If it's a state job, the pay is poor compared to anything in MCPS and Montgomery County government. Historically the turnover at the facility had been high. But because the pay was so poor, people were commuting in from much further distances, and eventually got tired of the commute and transferred out when transfers were available. Some directors were strong. Some weren't. In the past, it had been very difficult to get school records in any timely manner. And if a child were only there for 7 days, that child usually missed out on any instruction because school records hadn't transferred.
Girls are very complex, and when they are in the juvenile justice system, it almost always means they have multiple traumas and no support. If you are already familiar with that, then bless you. It's a demanding job, and the rewards are few.
